60 sovereign jewels stolen from actor Karunakaran's house; details inside

Tamil actor Karunakaran, residing in Karapakkam, Chennai, with his wife Thendral and their child, recently faced a theft incident at their home. According to Nakkheeran, Thendral filed a complaint at the Kannagi Nagar police station, reporting the loss of jewelry amounting to 60 sovereigns. The police registered the case and carried out an initial inspection of the house. Upon examining the crime scene, they observed that there were no signs of forced entry, as the cupboards and doors remained intact, indicating that the theft might have been an inside job.

Following this observation, the authorities collected fingerprint samples from the domestic workers employed at the house to narrow down potential suspects. The investigation led to Vijaya, a worker residing in the nearby Kaliyamman Temple Street in Karapakkam, who was subsequently detained for questioning. During interrogation, Vijaya confessed to gradually stealing the jewelry over time, taking small amounts to avoid suspicion. Nearly 59 sovereigns of the stolen gold were recovered from her possession.

This incident comes in the wake of a similar high-profile theft at Aishwarya Rajinikanth's residence, where a domestic worker was also found to be the culprit. These cases have highlighted concerns over the trustworthiness of domestic help and the need for more stringent background checks.

On the work front, Karunakaran was recently seen on big screens in 'Meiyazhagan' featuring Karthi and Aravind Swamy in the main roles. He is next playing a crucial role in Karthik Subbaraj directorial featuring Suriya in the lead role, and the shooting of the film tentatively titled 'Suriya 44' was wrapped up a few weeks back.
