'Papanasam' is the remake of the Malayalam film 'Drishyam', and it turned out to be the best Malayalam to Tamil remakes. After failing to make Kamal Haasan accept his mistake, Varun Prabhakar's parents try to get the truth from Kamal Haasan. But he delivers an extraordinary performance as a middle-class family man and makes everyone move out with tears. It was a perfect climax to start the sequel later.

Overall performances
Kamal Haasan and the whole star cast were a plus for the remake, and everyone played their part in the film's success. Kamal Haasan didn't take any reference from Mohanlal and delivered a fresh performance on screen. Ghibran scored fresh music, and ‘Papanasam’ looked fresh although it was a remake.
