In recent times, regional films have been breaking language barriers, gaining recognition for their impressive visual spectacles as well as compelling content, and redefining cinematic entertainment. The shift is understandably expanding with audiences across the country in different languages. The Chhelo Show, also known as the Last Film Show, was released in 2021. The movie is a coming-of-age Gujarati drama. Directed by Pan Nalin, the movie starred Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimalli, and Richa Meena, among others, in important roles. The film was theatrically released in India only in October 2022, and it won Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. The Oscar-winning film portrays the life of a boy who is mesmerised by films and wants to enter the industry, and the film shows how he decides to be a filmmaker and how he manages all the heartbreaks that await him through the course of his journey.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh's directorial debut, 'Ved,' was released on December 30, 2022. The film is a skillful fusion of love, sacrifice, and captivating plot twists that are essential for a commercial entertainer. Riteish Deshmukh takes on the central role of the lovelorn Satya in this film, with Jiya Shankar and Genelia Deshmukh as the female leads. The film dates back to the tradition and culture of the story, which dates back to the 4th century. Despite its modest budget, the film achieved pan-Indian success, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing film of 2022, thanks to its world-class cinematography and raw emotional power. Produced by Hombale Films and directed by lead star Rishabh Shetty, this Rs 16 crore production went on to amass Rs 450 crore at the box office, according to various trade analysts. The success of 'Kantara' has opened doors for numerous other regional films to celebrate their own cultural uniqueness even as they tell universal stories. The sequel to the film is now under production.
