After completing his Bachelor's degree, Sarathkumar became a bodybuilder and won the "Mr. Madras University" title in the year 1974. Sarathkumar then moved to Bangalore city and started working as a

paperboy

distributing newspapers to shops. But later with his hard work, he graduated himself to becoming a reporter for the same newspaper. He had also started his own business and ran a travel agency in Chennai.

Sarathkumar was last seen in the film 'Vaanam Kottatum', and has currently signed the films 'Perandhal Parasakthi' and '
