Did you know Rajinikanth was 'doubtful' about whether Fahadh Faasil would be able to pull off his role in Vettaiyan?

Rajinikanth starrer ‘Vettaiyan’ has finally hit the big screens on Thursday, October 10, and the film is winning at the box office. Fahadh Faasil, best known for his films in Malayalam also plays a crucial role in the film. Fahadh is often admired by actors from across the nation for his natural acting chops.

However, did you know that Rajinikanth was initially ‘doubtful’ about whether the actor would pull off his role in ‘Vettaiyan’? Yes, you read it right.

Rajinikanth, who has only watched two films of Fahadh Faasil, certainly admired his acting chops, but was unsure whether he could pull off this over-the-top character.

During the audio launch event of the film, Rajinikanth said, “There is a character in this movie that’s quite unique. I have never seen or heard of a character like this before. Gnanavel suggested that we cast Fahadh Faasil. When Gnanavel suggested his name, I was doubtful because this character is an entertainer. I haven’t watched a lot of Fahadh films and have only seen two of his Tamil movies: ‘Vikram’ and ‘Maamannan’. In both those movies, he played very serious characters. But Gnanavel was certain.”


Fahadh Faasil managed to win the heart of the superstar, as soon as he joined the film. “What an artiste Fahadh is. I have never seen a natural artist like him ever before. Hats off to him. He won’t stay in his trailer. One won’t know where he is, but as soon as you call him for a shot, he will come running and finish his portion in no time. He is extraordinary,” Rajinikanth said.
