The versatile actor joined hands with director Mani Ratnam for the first time for 'Raavanan', and the film was shot in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. It was a challenging role for Chiyaan Vikram as he played the negative role in the Tamil version and the hero role in the Hindi version. Chiyaan Vikram used only rope for stunt scenes in the film's climax scene, where he jumps down from a mountain.
