36 songs in Markandeya!

The 1935 hit Markandeya, starring singer-actor Master V N Sundaram in the titular role, had as many as 36 songs in it. Interestingly, each number was rendered by well-known singer-actors, including Srinivasan, Kaana Bai and Kuzhandaivelu Bhagavathar. The film, based on the mythological story of Markandeyan, was directed by K Ramnoth and Murugadasa.
