Director Vetrimaaran's 'Viduthalai - Part 1' was released in theatres on March 31. The film stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles while Bhavani Sre, Rajiv Menon and Gautham Vasudev Menon play in important roles in the film. The music for the movie is composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

The film has received positive reviews from both fans and critics for the story, characterisation, cinematography and casting. As actor Soori for the first time in his film career, plays a serious role as a cop, the transformation of the actor is being critically acclaimed.

The movie on day of its release has made a box office collection of Rs 4.8 crore, Rs 1.3 crore more than what it made on day 1 reportedly. It looks like the film is picking up its speed over the weekend as it has received only positive reviews.

'Viduthalai' was shot based on the story Thooyavan written by Jeyamohan. The film's sequel is scheduled to release in September this year.
