‘Vettaiyan’ box office collections day 20: Rajinikanth’s action flick collects Rs 250.5 crores

Rajinikanth’s recently released action drama movie ‘Vettaiyan’ has come close to its final collections.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Vettaiyan’ has minted Rs 250.5 crores worldwide in 20 days, and the India Net collections for the actioner amount to Rs 145.76 crores. India's Gross collections stand at Rs 169.75 crores and the Overseas collections at Rs 80.75 crores in 20 days.


Coming to the day-wise collections for the Rajinikanth starrer in Tamil Nadu, ‘Vettaiyan’ has grossed Rs 123.17 crores from the Tamil Net box office. On day 20, the movie collected Rs 38 lakhs, as per the early estimates. The recent day-wise collections for the movie show a downfall.


‘Vettaiyan’ was rated 3 out of 5 by ETimes. Our review for the film read, “Commercial cop stories often come with a lot of loud flaunting. The hero can shoot without looking at the subject, he oozes swagger every time he gets out of the cop car. For obvious reasons, Newton’s Law of Gravity does not exist. TJ Gnanavel’s latest outing with Rajinikanth, Vettaiyan, ticks all these boxes. But, there is more, too. The movie firmly calls for debate on encounter killings, and how these encounters only target the poor and the rich are never at the receiving end of the gunshots. He questions the loopholes in the education system. Gnanavel’s last outing, Jai Bheem, with an intense subject, had touched all the right chords. In Vettaiyan, Gnanavel has an interesting social drama story to tell, but is bogged down by Rajinikanth’s stardom.”
