Directed by Mithran Jawahar, ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ was released in theatres on August 18. The movie features Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles. The film has now successfully stepped into the third week of screening and is still running strong with houseful shows.
The film on day 15 of its release, September 1 made a box office earning of Rs 3 crore and the film now stands at a net of Rs 110 crore earned from box office collection. The film though has limited screens now due to the release of the new big film ‘Cobra’ starring Vikram as the lead, ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ reportedly surpasses ticket sales.
It was earlier speculated that the movie will end tis theatrical run with ‘Cobra’s release, however it still tends to run strong and trade analysts are reportedly suggesting that the film will mint at least Rs 130 crore before the movie screenings are stopped in theatres this month.
‘Thiruchitrambalam’ is a romantic comedy and the story focuses on two best friends who eventually fall in love with each other over time. The music for the movie was composed by Anirudh Ravichandran and apart from the lead roles, the movie has Prakash Raj and Bharathi Raja playing important roles.
