'Retro' box office collection Day 12: Suriya and Pooja Hegde's romance-action film nears Rs 60 crore mark on second Monday

Suriya and Pooja Hegde's Tamil film 'Retro', directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has been performing well at the box office since its release on May 1, 2025. On Day 12, the film collected over Rs 74 Lakhs as per the early estimates on sacnilk.com.

As per the trade report, the movie has garnered a total India net collection of around Rs 58.14 crore by its 12th day, with Tamil Nadu contributing the lion’s share. On Day 12 alone, Retro earned approximately Rs 74 lakhs, reflecting a dip from the weekend but maintaining a decent hold considering the film entered its second-week at the box office.

The movie’s box office performance has seen fluctuations, with a strong first week collection of Rs 52.95 crore, mainly from Tamil Nadu, followed by a mixed second weekend. Occupancy rates in Tamil Nadu hovered around 17.65% on Day 12, with cities like Chennai and Madurai showing relatively higher audience turnout. Despite some decline in weekday collections, the film continues to draw attention for its engaging plot, high production values, and powerful performances.

About the film'Retro' is the story of Paarivel "Paari" Kannan played by Suriya, an orphan raised by a gangster, who embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover his true origins and fulfill a local prophecy. The narrative combines elements of romance, action, and suspense as Paari fights against a brutal cult while trying to reunite with his lost love, Rukmini portrayed by Pooja Hegde. The film's rich storytelling is complemented by a stellar supporting cast including Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, and Prakash Raj, who add depth and intensity to the unfolding drama.
