Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has hit the bullseye strongly as the highly anticipated film met fans' expectations. The mega-budget historical drama is shaping up well at the box office and adding steady numbers. Now, the latest update is that the epic historical drama has exceeded Rs 260 crore. As per the latest report,
Mani Ratnam's directorial debut reportedly earned Rs 16 crore on its sixth day of release.
Though the collection sounds low, the film's overall collection has reached Rs 260 crore, and the film is set to add impressive numbers on its second weekend.
The domestic collection of 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' reportedly stands at around Rs 130 crore, while half the film collection has come from overseas markets. 'PS 2' has already emerged into the top 5 list in the USA, UK, Australia, and several other overseas locations, and it's going to be another record-breaker from Mani Ratnam. The multi-lingual release has helped the film achieve quick numbers, and the sequel is performing better than the prequel in the northern states.
'Ponniyin Selvan 2' features an ensemble star cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi,
Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Shobita,
Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, and
Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others. AR Rahman scored the music, while the cinematography was handled by Ravi Varman. Jeyamohan and Elango Kumaravel have assisted Mani Ratnam in building the screenplay for the periodic drama that is based on the history of the Chola kingdom.
