Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' has reached its second week of theatrical release, and the film has become the all-time biggest Tamil hit. After surpassing Rs. 300 crores at the end of the first week, 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' has been receiving great responses from fans in the second week as well. The weekday collections of the film look solid as the film receives above-average occupancy in theatres.

'Ponniyin Selvan 1' has grossed Rs 411 crores at the end of day 12 (October 11) and the film is about to break Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' (Rs 455 crores) worldwide collections shortly. Meanwhile, 'PS 1' is just inches away from breaking Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' collections in Tamil Nadu, while the film has surpassed 'Baahubali 2' collections in the state. The historical drama is stepping strongly to reach the Rs 500 crore mark, and the film is expected to achieve it by the end of its third weekend.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan' adapted from Kalki's historical novel of the same title features Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, among others in main roles. AR Rahman scored the music, and the grand film was made in two parts with a budget of Rs 500 crores.
