'Meiyazhagan' box office collection day 2: Karthi and Aravind Swamy's film surpasses Rs 10 crore
'Meiyazhagan', featuring Karthi and Aravind Swamy, has made a strong debut, garnering positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Directed by Prem Kumar of 96 fame, 'Meiyazhagan' is a compelling rural drama that unfolds over a single night, reminiscent of the director's previous success. After earning a solid opening on day 1 with around Rs 5 crore, 'Meiyazhagan' peaked well on its second day. According to Cinetrak, 'Meiyazhagan' earned Rs 6 crore on day 2 (Saturday), and it made the film's total collection stand at around Rs 11 crore. The film's advance bookings for Sunday look super strong, and it suggests that the film could see a cliff once again.Released on September 27, 'Meiyazhagan' faced stiff competition from three other Tamil movies and Jr. NTR’s Devara. Despite this, it managed to secure a substantial number of screens in Tamil Nadu and other key regions. In Tamil Nadu, the two-day collection of 'Meiyazhagan' is estimated to be around Rs 9 crore, and the film conquers the home state audiences. Karthi portrays a charming rural man, while Aravind Swamy shines in a pivotal role. Sri Divya, Rajkiran, and Devadharshini played crucial roles, while the film's music was taken care of by Govind Vasandha.'Meiyazhagan' has also been released in Telugu under the title Sathyam Sundaram and has been receiving a positive response from the Telugu audience as well. 'Meiyazhagan' aka 'Sathyam Sundaram' is poised to gain added attention in Telugu states since Jr.NTR's 'Devara' continues to receive mixed reviews.
