'Lover' and 'Lal Salaam' were released on the same day on Feb 9, and both films will clash in theatres on thus upcoming Valentine's Day weekend. 'Lal Salaam' dominated 'Lover' on the first two days as the Tamil biggie helmed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth has a robust star cast that includes Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, and Superstar Rajinikanth. Even though the new-age romantic drama Prabhuram Vyaas received below average opening, the quality film from the talented director didn't fail to climb up at the box office. On Monday (day 4), the box office collection of 'Lover' was slightly higher than 'Lal Salaam' in Tamil Nadu, and the romantic drama dominated the sports drama on the working day.

'Lover' has reportedly grossed around Rs 2 crore on day 4, while 'Lal Salaam' has earned less than the foremost on the same day. Whereas, 'Lal Salaam' conquers the overall box office as the film has reportedly earned around Rs 24 crore in 4 days, while 'Lover' just surpassed Rs 7 crore in 4 days. The buzz for 'Lover' looks emphatic when compared to 'Lal Salaam', and the romantic drama has been winning praise from netizens on social media regularly.

Directed by Prabhuram Vyaas, 'Lover' features Manikandan, Gouri Priya, and Kanna Ravi in the main roles, and the film has music scored by Sean Roldan.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's directorial 'Lal Salaam' is a cricket drama that deals with religious inequality, and the film has music composed by AR Rahman.
