Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Leo' featuring Vijay in the lead role was released with higher expectations, and the action drama managed to earn major positive reviews. 'Leo' is having a successful run in its third week of theatrical release, and the film breaks another record at the end of day 17.
Even though 'Leo' has slowed down in many of the centers, Vijay starrer looks solid in Tamil Nadu, and the film holds its screens well in the home state. After dropping numbers during the weekdays, 'Leo' peaked well during the weekend, and the film earned a worthy number on its third Saturday. In Tamil Nadu, 'Leo' has grossed over Rs 200 crore to become the first film Vijay to achieve the feat, and the film is the overall third Tamil film after 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' and 'Jailer' to join the 200-crore club.
The worldwide collection of 'Leo' is estimated to be around Rs 578 crore, and the film is marching towards the 600-crore mark. Earlier a day ago, 'Leo' emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala by grossing over Rs 58 crore, and Vijay's film overtook Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' to recreate the box office record.
Packed with action sequences, 'Leo' features Vijay as a middle-aged family man, who has a hidden flashback, and the film is set to transform into a franchise. Trisha paired up with Vijay in the film after long years, and the film also has Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Sandy, Mysskin, and Mathew Thomas among others in crucial roles. Anirudh Ravichander scored the music to lit up the fire through his background score, and the film's classy visuals were captured by Manoj Paramahamsa.
