The periodic gangster drama 'Jigarthanda DoubleX' grossed over Rs 4 crore on Diwali day, and the film grossed over Rs 10 crore total in three days. Meanwhile, the heist thriller 'Japan' grossed slightly less than Rs 4 crore on day 3, and the film's three-day box office collection falls just short of Rs 10 crore. 'Jigarthanda DoubleX' leads 'Japan' at the box office after 3 days, and the initial film is also expected to emerge as the 2023 Diwali box office winner.
'Jigarthanda DoubleX' and 'Japan' are expected to continue well today on day 4, as the Tamil Nadu State government has declared a holiday today for Diwali. Meanwhile, the other Tamil Diwali release, 'Kida', has been progressing well, as it received the best review among the new releases.

Santhosh Narayanan scored the music, and the film is set in the 1970s.
