After the success of Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra,
Dulquer Salmaan is back on the big screen but this time as an actor and co-producer for Selvamani Selvaraj and
Rana Daggubati’s Kaantha. The film sees Dulqueer back in the 1950’s era after Mahanati, he is supported by Rana along with P Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse.
The film is set to release on 14th November and the advance booking for the film in India has already begun. The film is slated to have its premiere in the United States of America tomorrow night and as per numbers coming in the film has taken a very modest start of around USD 19,000 ( Rs 16 lakh) . And despite being originally a Tamil film, it is the Telugu version which has generated most revenue. Of the total collection till now more than USD 13,000 have come from the Telugu audience. This could purely be thanks to the presence of Rana Daggubati who is not only one of the leads in the film but also the producer of the film.
The film is set in Madras of the 1950s and focusses on a relationship between a well established director and his young actor who then goes on to become one of the biggest superstars of the country. And how with time their equation undergoes a change thanks to ego , power and fame. Going by the early reviews which were held last night, the film also involves a murder and the way it is spelled out on the big screen makes it for a very good viewing.
It would be interesting to see how the film fares from here on, it is being released in Malayalam and Hindi as well. On the same day Hindi market will see the release of De De Pyaar De 2 starring Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh- but both the films are hardly going to cross each others paths and impact their collections.
