'Coolie' box office collections day 4: Rajinikanth's mass mania; film races past Rs 160 crore mark
Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest release 'Coolie', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is proving to be nothing short of a festival at the box office. The action entertainer has maintained strong momentum through its opening weekend, crossing a staggering Rs 163.97 crore India net in just four days. Fans across the country are thronging theatres, and the Rajini-Lokesh combo seems to have delivered exactly what was promised – a larger-than-life cinematic experience.

As reported by the Sacnilk website, the film opened to a historic start on Thursday, raking in ₹65 crore on its very first day. Tamil Nadu led the charge with Rs 44.5 crore, while the Telugu version collected an impressive Rs 15.5 crore. Hindi markets contributed Rs 4.5 crore, and Kannada territories added Rs 50 lakh.
Though the second day saw a slight dip, 'Coolie' still minted Rs 54.75 crore on Friday. The Tamil version remained the strongest contributor, followed by Telugu and Hindi markets which showed encouraging growth. By Saturday, the film had collected Rs 38.6 crore (early estimates), taking its three-day total to Rs 118.5 crore.
With Sunday’s collections expected to add significantly to the tally, the four-day total has now reached Rs 158.35 crore. The film boasts a stellar ensemble. It includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruthi Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan in pivotal roles. On the other hand, the film is also getting mixed reviews. The movie stars Rajinikanth as Devaraj "Deva," a former coolie union leader who investigates the mysterious death of his friend Rajasekhar.
Coolie's early run suggests it is on track to become one of the biggest hits of 2025. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth was last seen in 'Vettaiyaan' which received only mixed reviews.
