Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi inches towards Rs 7 Crore mark in North America

Ajith Kumar's latest film, Vidaamuyarchi, is steadily gaining momentum in North America as it inches closer to the Rs 7 crore mark. The action-thriller, which opened to much anticipation, earned US $ 452,000 on its first day, including premiere shows. By the end of its second day, the film’s collection has jumped to to $612,575 with day 2 collections standing at around US $ 159,000 . On its third day, early evening collections added $151,900, bringing the total so far to $764,000 (approximately ₹6.34 crore).

In India, Vidaamuyarchi has grossed Rs 47.75 crore in three days, making it the second lowest collection for the superstar post pandemic.His last two films Valimai has collected Rs 60 crore in three days while Thunivu has minted Rs 44.5 crore.

The film, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, features an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, and Arav. It is based on Jonathan Mostow’s book Breakdown and marks Ajith Kumar’s first release since being honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan.

The mixed reviews for Vidaamuyarchi may have influenced its opening numbers. Critics and audiences have praised the performances and action sequences but criticized the storyline and narration. The film was initially slated for a Pongal 2025 release but was postponed to February, which might have impacted audience anticipation.

Looking ahead, Ajith Kumar is set to return with Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Scheduled for release on April 10, 2025, the film features Trisha Krishnan and Sreeleela in pivotal roles and has already created a buzz among fans.
