Theethum Nandrum

Theethum Nandrum begins with a robbery at a petrol bunk by three burglars - Siva, Daas and Maaran are repeated offenders, but manage to escape scot-free. Daas (Eesan) and Siva (Rasu Ranjith) are close friends, and their equation remains the same even after the former gets hitched to Sumathi (Aparna Balamurali). Though Sumathi requests Daas to bid adieu to compulsive crime, he commits the illegal act again, along with Siva and Maaran. However, he gets caught this time and serves punishment.
Daas, who becomes a changed man after coming from jail, vows not to commit burglary anymore. But fate had other plans for him. Maaran (Sandeep Raj) convinces him and Siva to join him for a robbery for one last time. Will they be caught again?
The film stands out for the way emotions have been handled between varied characters. The husband-wife relation and friendship between Daas and Siva are engaging enough for the viewers to empathise with them. The director, who also played one of the leads (Rasu Ranjith) and have edited the movie, too, succeeds in creating the right tension during the burglary scenes. The action scene in the climax is well-choreographed and all the artistes play their part well. Eesan and Aparna score in emotional scenes while Rasu and Sandeep are convincing in their contrasting roles.
On the downside, the film takes its own sweet time to establish a gang war between two groups in north Chennai, which becomes an integral part of the story in the latter half. The romantic track between Siva and Tamil (Lijomol Jose) could have been better. Though the antagonist pulls off a convincing performance, his role required more finesse. The technical aspects are strictly okayish.
