Nee Forever Movie Review: The Gen-Z romance playbook boils down to trendy lingo and an obsession with apps. Nee Forever overdoses on both, and no amount of swiping and slang can disguise a film this empty.

Ajay (Sudharsan Govind) is an app developer, written as the kind of guy whose brain shuts off the moment a woman enters his field of vision. Mathi (Archenaa Ravi) has the script excuse, which could have been interesting if her character had any edge to it. He's dating her for app research, she's dating him for screenplay material, and neither is being honest about it.

The first stretch goes for breezy comedy that rarely lands. Then the film pivots hard into sentiment: tearful confessions, montages about love and companionship, Ajay's granddad (Y.G. Mahendran) trying to hang himself. Everyone gets a flashback. His mom. His granddad. Mathi, Ajay. Even the investors to whom they pitch their ideas get their own backstories. It's a parade of emotional detours that leads nowhere, each one hammering the same point about family and love until you're numb to it.

The formula is visible from orbit: a jokey setup followed by manufactured emotion in the second half. There've been way too many of such dramas recently. Sudharsan and Archenaa put in the effort, and neither is bad, but the script doesn't give them anywhere to go.
