Lucky Man Movie Review: Every Friday, we get to witness a film that has Yogi Babu in it, and it's no different this time. Balaji Venugopal's Lucky Man has an idea that has every potential to become a lighthearted version of Ayyapanum Koshiyum. While the first half sets up a perfect platform with good moments eventually building tension between two characters, the latter half fails to capitalise on the initial proceedings.

Yogi Babu is introduced as an unlucky person who is often ridiculed for his bad luck. While he struggles to make ends meet with his family expenses, certain turns of events make him a lucky winner in a draw. A car comes into his life and transforms it for the better. While he strongly starts believing that the car is the best thing that has happened in his life, his wife thinks the other way.

Trouble begins when he encounters a policeman, which leads to several conflicts between them. In between all of these, his car gets stolen.

To what extent will this common man go to recover his car and also take revenge on the one who stole it?

Lucky Man, though it looks promising in the beginning, loses its way as it progresses and contains sequences that don't lift the core idea much. Both Veera and Yogi Babu's combination scenes are written well to an extent, but they don't translate the emotions in the right way for the viewers. For instance, how desperately Yogi Babu needs the car back is not established in an impactful manner. Also, some sequences in the second half get a bit chaotic and even seem silly for a film that started off in a very realistic way.

At one point, we even see Yogi Babu stealing a dog to take revenge. Though the director tries to justify all of it through several connections in the end, we don't feel anything as the emotions are empty.

Sean Roldan's background score complements the film well, but the song placements have been underutilised due to the average writing.

Both Yogi Babu and Veera are apt for the roles given to them, and they have done justice to them. The family sequences, featuring Rachal Rebecca and Yogi Babu's son, are enjoyable. The technical aspects, including the editing and the cinematography, support the film well.

Overall, Lucky Man is not very lucky enough to win our hearts completely, despite a good premise.
