Dawood Movie Synopsis: A cab driver gets pulled into a drug trafficking operation between rival gangs while police chase the mysterious kingpin Dawood.

Dawood Movie Review: The drug mafia formula returns for another lap around Chennai's underworld. Cab driver Linga, drowning in debt and dodging his financier's beatings, accepts what seems like easy money from local thug Johny. One transport job, he's told. Naturally, it's never that simple. He's now stuck between rival gangsters Moorthy (Sai Deena) and Visagam (Abishek), both competing for favor with the elusive Dawood, a shadowy kingpin nobody's ever photographed. Corrupt cop Ratnavel works both sides, and everyone's chasing the same contraband shipment.

Director Prashanth Raman attempts something mildly interesting by highlighting how passengers mistreat cab drivers, flipping the usual complaint through comic scenes. A few of these land. Linga handles the naive everyman role adequately, playing bewildered rather than streetwise. The gangsters oscillate between menacing and bumbling without finding a consistent tone. One moment they're threatening violence, the next they're fumbling punchlines. It's the sort of tonal whiplash that suggests uncertainty about what kind of film this wants to be.

The narrative maintains some tension around who'll actually secure the drugs and whether Linga survives the mess he's stumbled into. Then the second half loses its footing entirely, wandering through repetitive chase sequences and stalling conversations. Saara Aachar's character vanishes without explanation halfway through, a bizarre loose end nobody bothers tying. The film keeps dangling "Who is Dawood?" as its central mystery but fumbles the reveal into something confusing rather than clever.

Rakesh Ambigapathy's background score works overtime to inject energy the scenes don't naturally possess. A climax twist does provide brief surprise, suggesting the film had a decent idea buried somewhere. By then, though, you've already checked out from the predictable route it took getting there.
