Accused Movie Synopsis: A police constable must protect a prisoner from assassins during a perilous transport to a court hearing.

Accused Movie Review: You’ve seen this setup before: a high stakes prisoner transport that’s destined to go wrong. Here, it’s constable Vendhan (Ajmal) escorting Kanakku (Udhaya), a man accused of murdering a politician, on a bus ride from Chennai to Salem. Things kick off with a genuinely impressive bus action sequence, promising a gritty, taut thriller. For a moment, you think you know what kind of movie you’re in for.

But just as you settle in, the film throws a tonal wrench in the works. The gritty chase suddenly detours into bizarre interludes, like the main characters pausing their escape to cook biryani and dance at a lodge. The story can’t decide if it wants to be a serious thriller, a sentimental drama via flashbacks, or a comedy that even a talent like Yogi Babu can’t quite land. While Jhanvi Kalakeri shines in her emotional scenes, they feel like they belong to a different, more focused movie.

The commitment from the actors is one of the film's few consistent elements. Udhaya, marking his 25th year in cinema, gives his all to the role, though you wish his character had been given more to work with than a standard, underdeveloped arc. Ajmal is equally solid as the conflicted constable.

The camera work and music get the job done, but they can’t fix the core issue. You leave not with a lasting impression, but with the feeling of a movie that had all the right parts but no idea how to assemble them.
