The noticeable success of action movies in Odisha is prompting Ollywood directors to explore this genre further. The latest in the line is Dilip Panda’s Dharma, starring Akash Das Nayak and Riya Dey.
During the muharat of the movie at the Panchamukhi Hanuman temple in Cuttack, the director told us, “The movie is a revenge saga and the story is based in rural Odisha. Apart from a strong Odia flavour, the audience can expect quite a few nerve-wrecking action sequences.

I have designed these sequences with sticks that are used in Odia folk dance — Paika. I hope this will be a refreshing visual experience for the audience of Odia movies.”
Akash was quite excited to play the lead role in this movie. “My character has integrity. He respects and cherishes family bonding and also has a romantic heart. These characteristics make him very appealing. That is one of the main reasons I accepted this role,” shared Akash.
Actors Raimohan, Pintu Nanda and Ipsita Mohanty will play pivotal roles in the film. The music, according to composer Deepak Kumar, will be a blend of Sambalpuri folk and Western beats.
