The second edition of the two-day extravaganza, Jaipur By Nite, concluded with much fanfare. This edition was primed to reflect the state's rich folk art and culture, and aimed at promoting Jaipur as a craft and shopping destination during the summer and monsoon season among the tourists. The City Palace opened the festivities on the first day with a variety of cultural performances.
The dance group, Padanyaas of Bollywood, from Mumbai, performed on medley of Bollywood songs as a tribute to the Indian cinema. The Mubarak Mahal reverberated with the tunes of folk songs as everyone enjoyed the
kachhi ghodi and
chang-dhaap performances. And then there was puppet show, magic show, a live paintings demo, etc.
Samadar Khan and Kamli Sapera’s performance, and Bollywood singer
Shweta Pandit’s show ruled the second day. She sang hit numbers, which were enjoyed by Princess Diya Kumari, Kunwar Narendra Singh and Nancy J Powell, the US ambassador, along with senior officials and delegates from Bangladesh, Singapore and Indonesia.
