Tamil cinema definitely seems to be in the mood to explore. The phenomenal response to
Suseenthiran’s Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu seems to have encouraged another director to make a sports film — this time on the sport of carrom.
Says Vijaya Nanda, the director of the film, Vilaiyaada Vaa, “The story of my film focusses on an orphan who is adopted by a carrom player, who harbours dreams of making him a carrom champ.
The boy soon takes to the sport like a fish takes to water. But does he turn a champ? That is what the film is all about.”
The film has television artist Viswanathan Balaji making his debut as hero in Kollywood. It also stars Divya Padmini (who made her debut with Ayyan) and Aishwarya (who made her debut with
Avargalum Ivargalum).
