Director-producer Vikram Bhatt, who made his foray into Kollywood with Mutthirai, which he co-produced with Anees Jeeva, is all set to release his next film in Tamil. And this time, it’s a scary thriller, Aathma 3D, the Tamil version of his Hindi film Haunted 3D. Aathma 3D stars Mahakshay Chakraborty (son of Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty) and Tia Bajpai.
A source close to Vikram Bhatt says, “The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English in May. We’ll also dub the film in Spanish.” Vikram, who’s helmed the project, says, “Aathma 3D is India’s first stereoscopic 3D film. We felt that there was a need to do a 3D horror film in stereoscopic format because after Chota Chetan (My Dear Kutti Chatthan in Tamil), which was the first, we shut shop with Shiva Ka Insaaf. The cost of production increased by 40 per cent because I made my horror film in 3D.”
While the 3D effects were done by the 3DCC crew, who have worked on films like Resident Evil and Saw 7, the special effects have been added at a popular studio in Chennai.
