Uppi talks about his new film

The posters of Upendra's new film have only a symbol, no title. Go figure, he tells fans
Uppi talks about his new film
On Friday, when posters of his upcoming directorial were splashed across the city, they made waves.
The excitement was a throwback to a decade ago, when Upendra designed the posters of his directorials, unusually titled A, Om, Swastik and Ssssh.
Upendra has returned to his first love calling the shots after his last directorial titled Upendra in 1999.

This time, too, the actor-director has devised a unique concept to stir up interest among his fans.
The movies posters only feature a hand the thumb and forefinger touching, the other three fingers outstretched; the gesture some use to indicate super. Theres no mention of the title, and the only line on the posters is, Upendra acts and directs. The film will be made in four languages: Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Im thrilled with the response Im getting from my fans and industry folks, says Uppi. Ive been getting calls asking what the symbol stands for. Im enjoying all the excitement that my posters have created, says Uppi, whos just back from Thailand after shooting for Rajni. He adds, If Im returning to directing after 10 years, every aspect of my film has to be innovative. I dont follow trends and work hard to make my films a talking point.

His previous directorials have been much discussed in Gandhinagar. When Uppi directed A, also his first film as an actor, the poster of the film only read, A... Buddhivantarige Maatra. It was the same with Om, which starred real-life rowdies of the city. Which is why I was keen that my comeback directorial has to be different, says Uppi.
So, whats the symbol about? It could mean anything it depends on the viewers perspective. Some say it means bombaat or sakkath. Others have interpreted it as a yoga mudra. Yet others say that it means super and have declared that thats the title of the movie! Im not going to accept or deny that. My sole aim is to stoke the audiences imagination which, I think, Ive done successfully, laughs Uppi.
