While star kids might want to go out on a vacation during their summer holidays, do the shooting schedules of Tollywood’s supermoms allow that luxury? TOI lends an ear to the star momsRachna BanerjeeAfter my son Praneel was born, my husband and I had mutually decided to go out on two vacations in a year irrespective of our work pressures. Praneel’s summer vacation has already begun.
We are going for a holiday to Hong Kong and Macau on May 21. My son is my priority. So, I always try to adjust my shooting schedule so that I can spend time with him when he is at home.
Indrani DuttaI am taking my daughter, Rajnandini, to Ooty for a vacation. During her summer holidays, I always try to plan my shooting schedule in such a way that I can spend more time with her. But, I can’t always have things my way since a shooting requires date adjustments of all the actors. If I’m shooting while Rajnandini has her summer vacation and can’t return home early, I make it a point to bribe her with a packet of biryani. That’s her favourite dish. Otherwise, I take her out on a long drive. Even if I’m very tired, I still make it a point to do that. If I come back early, we go to ice-cream parlours, shopping malls or take a spin around the city.
Chaiti GhoshalI strongly believe that one can’t simultaneously be a 100 per cent professional and a 100 per cent mother. During my son, Amartya’s summer holidays, I try to be with him. Even if that’s not possible because of my professional commitments, I try to take a seven-day break from my schedule and go out on a vacation with him. This year, however, I’ve not been able to squeeze that time out since I am too occupied with my shooting. I understand that Amartya is a little angry because of that. I am trying to compensate him by taking him to watch good movies, buying books (that’s the greatest bribe for him) and dinning out. After pack-up, I try and take him out to his favourite joints. On most occasions, we land up in a video parlour, a book store or a food joint.
Sreelekha MitraI take my daughter, Oishi, to my shooting spot, when she doesn’t have school. Sometimes, she hangs around for a few hours. Otherwise, she drops me to the studio and returns to pick me up after pack–up. I always try to be with her as much as possible since I don’t believe in the concept of quality time. When I go outdoors or shoot for long hours at a stretch, I do miss her. I have cut down on work so that I can spend more time with her. Last year, we took Oishi to Bhutan during her summer holidays. This year too, we have some plans but haven’t decided on the destination as yet.
