Director Joy Mathew refuses to classify cinema into 'art' and 'commerical'
'There is no such thing as art cinema'
"There is no such thing as art cinema, there is only cinema," says director Joy Mathew, when asked whether his upcoming movie is an art movie or not.
"Cinema is ultimately a work of art, it is all about sound and visuals. The public should want to see a movie and it should entertain them. If it fails to do so, it is not good cinema," he adds.
Joy Mathew is currently busy directing his first movie - Shutter.

"My film will not restrict itself to showing only the beautiful elements of life. Have you ever seen an actress brushing her teeth or spitting in a Malayalam movie? My movie will have all that and more.It will break conventions."
There is no romance, lovers or songs in this movie, only real life situations, he says. "I haven't included the usual ingredients of commercial cinema but it isn't an art movie either."
The cinematographer of the movie is Hari Nair while Oscar winner Resul Pookutty handles the sound.
