The lure of Mynaa
Golden Star Ganesh, despite a string of flops with remakes, is excited to be working on the Kannada version of Mynaa.
He tells TOI why...
Not long ago, Golden Star Ganesh was the toast of Sandalwood as he looked set for a long innings at the box office with a series of hit films. But then, there seemed to be a shift in his fortunes, with most of his celluloid outings faring miserably.

In fact, Ullasa Uthsaha and his recent Eno Ontara, both remakes, flopped.
But a bad run at the BO hasn’t deterred Ganesh from starring in another remake — the Kannada version of the Tamil hit, Mynaa. And he says the decision to act in this film about forbidden love was made after watching Mynaa twice. “I’m definitely doing Mynaa in Kannada. I watched the film twice when I was here in Chennai for the post-production work of Kool. The first time I watched it, I had tears in my eyes. That’s when I decided to remake it in Kannada. But just then, producer K Manju approached me to star in the remake and things fell into place,” says the Golden Star.
Mynaa’s Kannada version will require him to take the de-glam route with a different hairstyle and a beard to match the hero in the Tamil original, but Ganesh isn’t complaining.
And despite his earlier two remakes failing at the box office, Ganesh is still confident of Mynaa’s success.
“Remake or original, the script should be good. Only then will people like the film. I am confident that whoever watches Mynaa will like it. I believe I have made the right choice by doing this project,” defends G.
