Swetha Menon’s new mantra

Actress Swetha Menon, who has made quite a re-entry into films, thanks to her varied roles in the Malayalam flick Salt N’ Pepper and Rathinirvedam, will be seen in a rather deglamourized role in award-winning director Sarath’s next — Parudeesa.
The actress plays the role of a maid at a Christian monastery in this one. “Parudeesa tells the story of a priest and a sexton.The story is set against the backdrop of a typical village,” says Sarath, adding that the filming is scheduled to begin by early next January. The rest of the cast includes veterans like Sreenivasan, Jagathy, Indrans and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
While the no-glam mantra seems to be working well for Swetha in Mollywood, it seems like she is working towards the same in Kollywood too. She will be playing the role of a dasi in Vasanthabalan’s much-anticipated period film Aaravaan.
For the naysayers who doubted her acting talent, this dame is sure letting her characters do all the talking!
