Rashmi's learning experience

The first thing that strikes you about Rashmi Gautam, who is making her debut in Kollywood with Kanden, is her candidness and unpretentious nature. Where most actors and actresses describe their experience of working on their films as “fun”, Rashmi chooses to be different.
The young actress, clearly, seems to be in a class of her own. While commenting on the experience of working in Kanden, the youngster, in a matter-of-fact manner, says, “It was a new experience and I was always on my toes.I’m a Telugu-speaking girl and am not well-versed in Tamil. I had to get my lines beforehand and rehearse them and at this point, I’d like to thank all my assistant directors who helped me out with my lines in the film. In all, I would call it more a learning experience than fun.”
Television, it seems, has served as the launch pad for this actress too, who discloses that she has been part of two Telugu television shows.
Says Rashmi, “I’ve been a part of a television series called Yuva, that was produced by well known actor Nagarjuna. I was also a part of another Telugu reality show called Gharshana. It was while doing this show that actress Sangeetha spotted me and put me on to the team of Kanden.”
The actress, who is all praise for her director Mugil and co-star Shanthnoo in the film, says, “Mugil sir is extremely focused. We started work on this film around six months back and from then, until now, I’ve never seen him make an unnecessary comment or statement. In fact, I’ve never seen him do anything that is unwarranted. He’s a cute, simple guy, who is down-to-earth. His focus is on filmmaking and I appreciate him with all my heart for that.
“Shanthnoo is a fabulous dancer. He definitely knows a lot about the business because he comes from a family that has been into films. He was very helpful throughout the project,” she adds.
So, finally, what is Kanden all about? Signs off the actress,“It is a romantic-comedy that revolves around two ordinary people who experience a series of emotions. The film primarily deals with people’s emotions and will have a mix of everything that audiences from all centres expect.”
