Eros International, India’s largest integrated film studio and Ocher Studios Private Limited, Chennai, have joined hands to co-produce Raana, to be directed by KS Ravikumar, who has in the past directed two superhit films of RajinikanthMuthu and Padayappa.
Scheduled to go on the floors in March this year, Raana will be a live action magnum opus with Rajini playing a triple role and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

AR Rahman will score the music, Ratnavelu will handle the camera and Anthony will do the editing. The technical and special effects directors will be Soundarya Rajinikanth and Charles Darby, a renowned visual effects luminary. Added to that, an Emmy Award winner will be the visual effects supervisor on the film.
The film is scheduled to release in 2012. Speaking on the development, Sunil Lulla, managing director of Eros, said, “We are extremely excited to join hands with Tamil industry’s Superstar Rajinikanth for Raana and this time, the audiences will be treated to a triple role by their favourite actor. Raana is going to be far different from any of the recent Rajini films, and it will be a complete live action magnum opus with loads of entertainment for his fans.”
Soundarya, director of Ocher Studios added, “We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Eros International for Raana. We hope to make a film together that will live up to the huge expectations of the movie-goers and reach out to maximum audiences across the globe.” Eros and Ocher will produce the film through Rana Production Ltd, UK.
Rajinikanth’s last film, Robot, was a spectacular hit that released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Eros also has an impressive line-up for the year including films like Game, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Rockstar, Mausam, Ra.One, Desi Boyz, Agent Vinod and Chalo Dilli.
