He’s a techie who loves music, not a gun-toting gangster. That’s the role Raghu Mukherjee’s playing in his next film, which was reported to be a Kannada remake of the B-town hit, Gangster, and stars Pooja Gandhi. “The film is about how the underworld affects the lives of two people. I was told that some people involved in the Gangster remake wanted Srinagar Kitty in the film, and that the film itself has been postponed,” explains Raghu.
What is true, however, is that Pooja Gandhi will star in the film as well. Moreover, the film is being directed by Shiva Ganapathy, who directed the critically acclaimed Anu, which also starred Pooja. “I haven’t seen Anu, but when I met Shiva, I saw that he had a certain vision for the film, which is why I decided to be a part of it,” says Raghu, who will start shooting for the untitled project on February 2.
However, there were reports that Raghu’s first film of the year would be a multi-heroine project. “The story is done. Now, the director and I are working on the screenplay. I’ll start shooting for it soon after Shiva’s film is done,” reveals Raghu.
The actor is also enjoying his stint as a reality TV show host. “It’s so different from working on a film. There’s no script, it’s shot mainly on outdoor locations, and there are a lot of tasks. It’s very challenging to shoot in such an environment,” he says.
While the model-turned-actor-turned-TV host is working on so many different projects, he also makes sure he spends time with his wife Bhavana. “I’ve just done eight TV commercials. I also took my wife to Colombo, where we both did some deep-sea diving. Now, I’ll be shuttling between my TV show and my film,” he signs off.
