When an individual keeps setting fresh goals immediately after achieving ones set already, then you know that he/she is on the path to success. Actress Piaa Bajpai, it seems, is on such a path at the moment. The actress, after having delivered impressive performances in Poi Solla Porom, Aegan and Goa, is now confident about the success of her next film Bale Pandiya, the audio of which was released yesterday.
Says Piaa, “It was a great experience working in Bale Pandiya and I need to thank the whole team, especially producer Kalpathi S Aghoram, director Siddharth and my co-star Vishnu, for being very helpful. It has been a pleasant experience and a memorable one too.”
It is not without reason that the actress calls it a pleasant and memorable experience.
Says she with a smile, “On the first day of shooting for this film, I told the director that I was still learning Tamil and therefore the unit members must not make fun of my Tamil. He agreed and they did too. However, as I began speaking my lines in Tamil on day one, I could hear suppressed giggles and smiles. I protested and said that anybody who smiled or laughed at my Tamil on the sets would henceforth have to pay me a fine of Rs 50 everytime they did so. The director jokingly said that the fine amount that I collected would be more than my salary.”
Recounting another funny incident, the actress says, “I don’t know to swim and quite a few sequences for Bale Pandiya were shot at sea. But I pushed myself to act in them and I’m glad they have come out well. In fact, once when I had to stand in knee-deep water for a scene being shot in Thailand, director Siddharth, who realised that the sea floor was slippery, asked an assistant to be ready to help me out just in case I slipped. However, he slipped and I had to help him out.”
Known for her dedication, the actress actually skipped meals while shooting at sea.
“We were shooting in Thailand and would have to travel around 50-60 km in the sea, before commencing. There was no land nearby and so, we had no alternative but to spend the entire day on the boats. Moreover, only 15 people were permitted on one boat and so, the others would have to be on a nearby yacht, where the food was being cooked and served. The difficult part was that we got seasick. Both vessels would keep rocking all day and therefore led to a nauseating feeling. I started skipping my meals on the boat to prevent the nauseating feeling from becoming strong and to enable me to focus on my work,” she discloses.
Finally, ask her about her other projects and she says, “I’m doing K V Anand sir’s Ko at the moment. I’m also looking at a couple of other scripts.”
