It’S been a while since Parvathi last came to Bangalore. “I’ve been back home, in Kerala, so I haven’t spoken much Kannada in a while,” said the actress at a media interaction recently, explaining why her Kannada was so rusty. Was that why she wasn’t able to dub for her next film, the Puneet Rajkumar-starrer Prithvi? “I can’t forget the language that easily.
I was keen to dub for Prithvi because I’m enthusiastic about the post-production process, but the film’s director, Jacob Varghese, didn’t want me to do so,” she explained.
On the acting front, Parvathi said that working on Prithvi was a pleasure, especially because she got to team up with her Milana co-star again. “Good chemistry shows only if co-stars share a great comfort level. Puneet is very considerate. He’s like my buddy now, which shows on-screen in Prithvi,” she says.
If things had gone differently, Parvathi would’ve been working with Sudeep on Kanwarlal. “Sudeep and I talked about the film casually and then he sent me a CD. Later, I understood how it became a masterpiece in the ’80s and that Sudeep is recreating the film as a tribute to Ambarish. But then, if I don’t have a positive gut feeling about my character, I won’t be able to give the film my 100 per cent. Sudeep understood that, as he’s both an actor and a director,” explains Parvathi.
The actress is known for being a thorough professional, who insists on scripts and dialogues before taking up any project. “I demand scripts because I don’t want to be a puppet. I’ve faced obstacles because of my principles and hence, have done very few films. Getting a good narration and playing a character according to my understanding will help me perform better,” says Parvathi.
