After Kerala Café, Mollywood is gearing up for yet another film that features five different short films as one!
Mollywood seems to be making the most of their right to experiment this year. Coming up shortly is an interesting concept for a film, quite on the lines of last years’ anthology Kerala Café, which featured 10 short films with prominent and upcoming directors helming each project.

This yet-to-be-titled film will feature five 28-minute long short-films, each of them directed by prominent directors like Major Ravi, Deepan, Rajesh Amanakara, Mathew and Vinod Vijayan. The producers say that each film will have a different theme, but it has been planned in such a way that all the stories come together in the end. The star cast, which is yet to be finalised, will include Thilakan, Sukumari, Fahad Fazil, Mythili, Jyothirmayi, Manju Pillai, Salim Kumar and Suraaj Venjaaramoodu.
“The entire film takes place on a journey,” explains Major Ravi. “Each film will have a few common characters that will ease the transition from one story to the other,” he adds. His own contribution towards this film highlights the spirit of a mother. “It’s based on a true incident,” he says. Both Deepan’s and Vinod Vijayan’s films deal with contemporary issues.
The plot for Vijayan’s film revolves around a child who gets a glimpse of the stark realities of life when she picks up a newspaper to make a kite. While Rajesh Amanakara’s venture is said to be a humorous take on the troubles faced by young, newly married couples that live in the metro, Mathew’s short film is an intense drama about the bond between a father and his children. The film is being produced by Sibi Thottappuram and Joby Mundattam.
