Nimai Bali says that if offered a good negative role in a film, he is game for itPawan Dev, Baliand Duryodhana on the small screen. However, it has always baffled many why he hasn't done films even though he has been a part of the television industry for so long. The actor, a cousin of Sanjay Dutt, was in Vadodara to shoot for Jai Jai Jai Bajrangbali(JJJBB). He says, "Dutt saab(Sunil Dutt)had plans of launching me in a film.
Even Sanjay (Dutt), till date, insists that I must do one. Given a very good negative role, I would love to do one. However, I find television secure and comforting. I think it's a very big risk to take when a television actor decides to stop doing serials and focus only on films. I know many whose careers have suffered due to such decisions.
Kaam hi nahi milta hai baad mein! So, I have always been very careful."And what made him take up a show like JJJBB, given that he has done numerous such serials in the past? "It's true that there was this 'mythological stamp' that was forced on me. In fact, I have played Duryodhana four times! There was a point when no one was ready to offer me any other kind of role, but I was lucky enough to get over that phase and do serials like CID Special Bureau, Bhabhiand Kumkum. I have always wanted to play Ravan, who I believe was a great hero. And I haven't done any research or homework for this role. It's purely my interpretation of how he would have acted in certain situations that viewers will get to see." he says.
