Nila Madhab Panda’s 'Jalpari' wins award

Nila Madhab Panda’s last release Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid has won the MIP Junior Kids Jury Awards 2012, at Cannes recently. The movie, which is based on female foeticide, beat Chili Girl from Colombia, The Eternal Song: Jazzit II, Monster Mountain and One and a Half Friends from China.
Jalpari that cast child actor Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi, actor VM Badola, Rahul Singh, Suhasini Mulay and I am Kalam-star Harsh Mayar won the Tweens category.
“This is in fact one of the very prestigious awards and the kind of competition we had, I was actually surprised when I heard the news. The award will definitely help us in terms of saleability and will also help me in my upcoming projects,” said the director.
