Ever since the city’s traffic department collaborated with World Health Organisation (WHO) and Global Road Safety Partnership to crack down on drunken driving, the city’s clubbing fraternity are petrified.
Saturday night saw traffic cops set up 11 breath analyzing check points across the city. At the checkpoint set up right outside the Melting Moments icecream parlor on the stretch leading to KBR Park from Jubilee Hills checkpost, actor Nikhil was booked for drunken driving along with 78 others.

CV Anand, Traffic Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, says, “The permissible limit is 30 while Nikhil’s reading was 37.5. We have seized his four wheeler and since the Court is not open on Saturday and today (Sunday), he will be presented before of the Magistrate at the Nampally Court on Monday along with 78 others who were booked for the same offence on Saturday night at 11 checkpoints. The vehicles of others are also in our custody.”
As part of the new drive, those booked for drunken driving will be presented in the Court the following day. “They will be allowed to leave for the night but their vehicles will be seized and they won’t be allowed to drive back. We have procured 11 new breath analyzers that were used at 11 points on Saturday night. The checkpoints will be changed frequently,” he adds
