Krishnakumar all awed by Ilaiyaraaja

It’s not often that one gets an opportunity to work with two legends at the same time. So, it’s only natural that actor Krishnakumar feels delighted about such an opportunity coming his way.
The actor-cum-ad director, who recently directed a 30-second jewellery ad shot by cameraman P C Sreeram and featuring ace music director Ilaiyaraaja, can’t stop raving about the two legends.
Says he, “It was a pleasure to work with both the legends. We thought that Ilaiyaraaja sir would be stiff before the camera but he was completely at ease. He is a spiritual person and so, we decided to shoot the ad in temples. He never threw any tantrums like how most models do.”
“In fact, it was Ilaiyaraaja sir who composed the jingle. He composed it right in front of me immediately after I narrated the scene to him. It was magical,” he explains.
The ad was shot in the Thiruvidaimaruthur temple in Kumbakonam and the Thirukameshwarar temple in Villianur.
And there’s more. Says the actor and director, “Not just that. Ilaiyaraaja sir helped the art department to fill the contents of the arathi plate.”
“I also realised that PC sir and Ilaiyaraaja sir have mutual admiration for each other. When I showed them the commercial, both said it was very humane. Ilaiyaraaja sir appreciated me and the model who had featured in it, saying that the casting was appropriate while PC sir loved the colour correction and appreciated the edit.”
