Kanwarlal returns

Kanwarlal returns
Kuthe Kanwar nahi, Kanwarlal bolo are words that will never be forgotten by Sandalwood audiences.
This evergreen line from the blockbuster film, Antha, proved to be a turning point in Rebel Star Ambarish’s career. And now, Kicha Sudeep is all set to recreate the magic of Antha in a film titled Kanwarlal.
Why did he choose Antha? “Why not? Recreating a Kannada film hasn’t been done before.

It’s something new. It’ll be a tribute to Ambarish, which is also why I wanted to take up this project,” says Kicha. Is the Rebel Star in the know about his film being recreated? “Yes. In fact, we discussed the film with Ambarish, Rajendra Singh Babu and Jayamala madam. They seem to be as excited as I am about it,” replies the actor.
Though it’ll be based on Antha, it won’t be a remake, says Sudeep, who wants to give the story a twist. “I’m just taking the soul of Antha. Everything will be stylised and we will try to better various aspects of the original,” he says.
“A lot of people who are fans of Antha are working on the script with me,” says Sudeep, adding that Antha was technically well packaged with a huge starcast. “I want to maintain that standard,” he says.
Will Ambarish have a role in the film? “His blessings are more than enough for us. It’s best that he remains Kanwarlal in the minds of audiences,” says Sudeep, who plans to start the film on March 18.
He’d recently confirmed that Dandam Dashagunam will be his next project. So, what’s the status of the film? “Antha was not an impulsive decision. It was on my mind before Just Maat Maathalli. Dandam Dashagunam will also start immediately,” he wraps up.
