I play a very bubbly, cheerful girl: Piaa
Life seems to be moving at a hectic pace for Piaa Bajpai, who stole the hearts of Tamilians with her performances in Poi Solla Porom and Aegan last year.
The actress, who has just finished working for a Telugu film, is back in Kollywood for her next Tamil project, Bale Pandiya, which has Vishnu of Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu fame playing the male lead.
With me, things happen swiftly, she laughs and goes on to give details of the film, which bears the same name as that of the classic that featured the legendary Sivaji Ganesan, Devika and M R Radha.

It was Vijay sir (the director of Poi Solla Porom) who told me about this project, which is being produced by Kalpathi Agoram, she recollects and goes on to add, This too will be a full-length comedy and theyve changed my look for this film.
Ask her what made her accept this role and she replies, There are times when you accept a project for the story and at certain other times, for the character. As far as Bale Pandiya is concerned, both these are good.
Reluctant to part with more details of the films story, she hesitantly says, All that I can say, at this point, is that it is a comedy and I play a character that is very similar to me in real life a very bubbly, cheerful girl.

The actress, who joined the Bale Pandiya team on the sets on the first of this month, is all praise for the films director Siddharth. Hes a very cool character. He never gets hassled and is chilled out. Its a pleasure working with him, she says. As for the crew, its a young one and full of energy.
She has words of praise for the hero of the film, Vishnu, who she says is a good friend. He helps me with my Tamil and another good thing about him is that he speaks Hindi, she says, her voice giving away her delight.
The lass goes on to narrate a funny incident that happened on the sets amidst bouts of laughter. I learnt to drive a car a few months back and also have a drivers licence. However, I havent driven my car for sometime. When my director asked me if I could drive, I said yes. The next instant, I was asked to drive a car with Vishnu sitting next to me. The car had to be driven over a steep slope on first gear. As I was wearing goggles for the shot and a liquid was sprayed over it to make sure the lighting was right, I couldnt see a thing. I kept asking Vishnu, who was already not convinced about my driving skills, where the brake was. Vishnu was terrified. But we managed to can the shot without any untoward incident, she says, unable to suppress her giggles.
Known to be a hardworking artiste, Piaa is constantly working on her skill sets, especially her command of Tamil. Frankly speaking, my lip sync in Poi Solla Porom was far from perfect in certain parts where I had lengthy dialogues. But, Ive been making an attempt to speak Tamil properly and you will find my lip sync better in this film, she discloses.
Bale Pandiya, Piaa says, will hit the screens sometime in October. So, has the lass signed other projects? Im on the verge of signing a Tamil and a Hindi project and you will be the first to know, she signs off with a smile.
