He is still on a high after the release of his recent film Jarasandha. Having essayed the role of the main villain in this Vijay starrer, Karthik is ecstatic that the critics appreciated his baddie act in the flick. “One of the reviews even read that my style and dialogue delivery is amazing; that was more than enough to put me cloud nine,” says Karthik. The actor adds that working with Shashank was an enriching experience. “He extracted the best out of me in the film. I have always craved for a performance-oriented role and that dream came true with Jarasandha. To share screen space with somebody like Vijay doesn’t happen every day, so I felt really lucky to have worked with him,” he tells us.
The duo has worked earlier in
Preetham Gubbi’s Jonny Mera Naam. “But it was nice to work with him again. I had a fight sequence with him for ten minutes and I can never forget those moments. I owe it to the stunt director Ravi Varma. He literally held a cane in his hands and corrected my mistakes,” he says.
Though Karthik is happy with the way his latest releasehas churned out, he accepts that it took him a long time to arrive at this phase. “I tried my hand at various kinds of roles before realizing what I truly wanted to do. I’m glad that my filmmakers never gave up on me during my learning phase. Be it Ravi Srivatsa, Kiccha Sudeep, Preetham Gubbi, Aiyappa, D Rajendra Babu or Shashank, they all contributed to my growth,” he states.
Karthik has Varadhanayaka and Kuchiku next and has already charted his career. “For me cinema is like a game of cricket. But I only want to hit sixers,” wraps up Karthik.
