Shes passed an acid test with flying colours. And as expected, shes elated at having been able to do that in style. Shruti Haasan, after having impressed both critics and the general public with her composing capabilities in Unnaipol Oruvan, is now busy choosing her next projects, even as she responds politely to praises being showered on her.
The actress is planning to leave for Los Angeles where she will be meeting people to discuss her music. Most of my music is in English. So, Im meeting people there whove shown interest in my English music. I love meeting new musicians and collaborating with them, she says and smiles, even as she admits that she is in a very interesting phase of her life.
Says she, Im getting offers for movies and music, but Im still picking. I would rather make well-informed decisions than compromise this early in my career. Now, Im looking at a whole bunch of scripts a lot in Bombay, but none which really breaks my heart in Tamil so far. I have read some very interesting Tamil scripts but I felt that maybe I wasnt the one for them. I have to feel that I can give a 100 percent. So, Im waiting for that really great Tamil project.
The lass, who is known for her singing, acting and composing abilities, has always enjoyed performing with her band. However, at the moment, that seems to have taken a back seat.
Says she, The thing about a band is that its really like a family. When Krishnan, one of the bands founding members, had to go study in Los Angeles, he was in that kind of situation as to whether he should stay or leave. But I think the important thing is if hes back, Id love to do something. But maybe it will be a different band.
Finally, commenting on the response her work in Unnaipol Oruvan has evoked, she says, Unnaipol Oruvan is completely different from A Wednesday, even though they propagate the very same message. I was very apprehensive about being a music director and whether my musical ideas would apply, for it is a change I wanted to make in my own way. However, when I was approached with the script, I knew I had to be on board. For me, it wasnt about the success or failure of this project because the very idea was a success from the beginning. So now, when people from all walks of life understand the concept of that music and appreciate it, I really cant ask for anything more.
