Following the success of Happy Husbands, director Saji Surendran has decided to make his next, titled Husbands in Goa. Although the movie will have similar situations and some of the star cast of the original movie, this one is not a sequel, points out the director. Saji Surendran, originally a serial director, shot to the limelight in the Malayalam movie industry with Ivar Vivahitharyal.
The husbands are on a trip to Goa this time, on a break from their troubled married lives. Bhavana plays a lazy wife to Indrajith, who is a family court lawyer.
Jayasurya is a chartered accountant while wife Bhama is a religious person. Asif Ali will be seen in a deglamourised avatar, as a bank employee. Samvruta Sunil plays his wife, as someone who runs an entrance coaching institute. At Goa, the three husbands befriend Biju Menon, who is separated from his wife and enjoying life. Soon they are joined by their wives and what follows is understandably, chaos.
UTV Motion Pictures is said to produce the movie, their first foray into Malayalam. The shooting of the movie, which is scripted by Krishna Poojappura, is expected to begin in early 2012. Well, if Husbands in Goa is anything like the original, it’s going to be a laugh riot for sure.
