Editing documentaries is tough: Manoj Kannoth
He bagged the prestigious National Award for Best Editing while he was a student at FTII. His talent was spotted and many offers came his way.
But Manoj Kannoth likes to work at his own pace. Currently working on a documentary, 50 Years of Saroj Khan, Manoj says he prefers challenging works. After working on the offbeat movie, Veettilekulla Vazhi,Manoj has now taken up two new Mollywood projects, Mammootty-starrer Balyakalasakhibased on Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer's novel, and Chayilyam.

"Editing documentaries is a tough task as there won't be a proper script. It's time consuming but I like to do such works," says Manoj. Comparing Bollywood and Mollywood, Manoj says a film editor has a lot of freedom in Bollywood. "From the conception stage of a movie an editor is involved. The directors and the producers are open to our views and suggestions. But here, an editor comes to the scene much later so there is no scope for discussion. At times even the story is not discussed," he says.
The shooting of Balyakalasakhiwill start in February and Manoj, who is currently in Mumbai working on a couple of ads, will be in Kerala soon in connection with the project.
